Registration for the Shelley Glover Sports Education Foundation Century and Half-Century Bike Ride is now OPEN at: http://www.sgsef.org/

Shelley was a best friend, a teammate, a classmate, and a source of laughter, inspiration and motivation for me.  In May of 2004 Shelley died from injuries she incurred in a ski training accident.  Although she is no longer here to tell me to train harder, she remains a major source of motivation to me, and when I am competing you will always see me with a purple bracelet on my right wrist to remind me to Explore, Discover and Dream of pushing my limits a bit further.  Every pedal stroke contains a little bit of Shelley G.

To honor Shelley, the Shelley Glover Sports Education Foundation has been created and is "dedicated to promoting athletic activities and competition for youth of all ages and abilities with a focus on Shelley's favorite sports, skiing, soccer and swimming.  SGSEF will provide support for athletic opportunities and competition through the development of innovative programs and community partnerships that expand access to sports."  Although cycling does not begin with an S as does Skiing, Soccer, and Swimming, it sounds like it does...so the Century ride has been created and September 2010 will be it's 2nd anniversary.  You too can support this amazing foundation through registering to ride the Century or Half-Century at www.sgsef.org.  Or just go on to read more about Shelley and maybe donate and receive a purple bracelet to show your desire to Explore, Dream, and Discover!
